It seems hard to believe it's really that dangerous.

More cleaning?

He can't whine about not having anything to do. Also, with rebuilding civilization, the smallest things do count.

Training comes in all kinds of forms. Cleaning is a good way to practice paying attention to details.

Not just that.

... someone like him needs to have something more hands-on in order to feel like he's doing any good for the people around him. Fighting and killing man-eating beasts are a more immediate thing, but between hunts, he's the type to be restless.

... and then I had similar trouble teaching that sort of lesson myself.

--but anyway... there wasn't really much doubt in my becoming a good ninja. As far as tools to serve their nation and village go, I've always been one of the best.
